Cheek fat removal, also known as bichectomy, is the surgical removal of excessive fat deposits in the cheek area due to age, weight, etc. The operation, which allows for a reshaping of the facial contours, is carried out on the focus of fat in the cheek, known as the buccal fat pad.
Cheek fat removal is usually performed under general or local anaesthetic through an incision made from the inside of the mouth to the area called the buccal fat pad. The procedure is complete after the removal of the large amount of fat which has been accumulated in the cheek.
The healing process usually varies depending on the structure of the skin. It may take several weeks to see the final results.
