Sleeve Gastrectomy is the process of turning the stomach into a tube. With the operation, a large part of the stomach is removed and the continuation of the oesophagus is directed to the intestines. Sleeve gastrectomy limits the amount of food you can eat and prevents weight gain.
Sleeve gastrectomy is performed through small incisions in the upper abdomen. Most of the left side of the stomach is removed and the remaining part is shaped into a narrow tube called a sleeve.
