In which cases is ear surgery (otoplasty) performed?

How is ear surgery (otoplasty) performed?

The operation is carried out under general or local anaesthetic. During the operation, the skin at the back of the auricle is removed. A skin incision is made according to the patient’s problem and the cartilage is filed if necessary. In some cases, the tissue behind the earlobe can also be removed using a special technique.

What is a prominent ear?

A prominent ear is the appearance that occurs when the ear is further away from the head due to an increase in the angle between the head and the ear. The appearance of a prominent ear can also be caused by a deep outer ear socket in some patients. Prior to the operation, the cause of the problem will be accurately determined and the most appropriate method of surgery for the result will be preferred.
