Vaginoplasty is an operation to tighten the muscles of the vagina, surrounding tissues and perineum in order to achieve greater firmness, control and strength in the area and to increase sexual pleasure and sensitivity. It is an operation performed to repair the loosening of the vaginal muscles, usually seen in women after childbirth. Problems such as urinary incontinence, sexual dysfunction, etc. caused by this relaxation can also be treated by surgery.
Vaginoplasty is usually performed under general anaesthetic and in some cases under local anaesthetic or sedation, depending on the patient’s suitability. The operation, which takes between 1 and 2 hours on average, involves the tightening of the muscles behind the vagina. In the dissolving suture procedure, the lining of the vagina is removed and the surrounding soft tissues are tightened. As the vaginal cavity becomes smaller after the operation, there is more friction during sexual intercourse. This increases the pleasure of sexual intercourse.
